El Dorado High School
raising funds for "raspberry's resort"
Sierra Wildlife Rescue
Project overview
During the 21-22 program year, the Hands4Hope Club at El Dorado High School raised awareness and collected funds for an animal at Sierra Wildlife Rescue (SWR). Sierra Wildlife Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to the mission of preserving El Dorado County’s wildlife through public education and by rehabilitating and releasing injured and orphaned native animal species.
The club's goal was to raise funds to build an enclosure for a new animal ambassador named "Raspberry". She is a miner cat, ringtail, that was spotted on the side of the road near a raspberry patch. After it was observed that her mother never returned after several hours, she was brought to SWR for help. She was not a candidate for release, so hopefully she will become the newest ambassador for the education program.
